Children's ProgramsYour child must have a library card to take books out of the library. If he/she does not have one, please take a moment to fill out an application at the front desk before the start of the program. The first day of Storyhour is quite hectic and it is a great help to desk staff if cards are issued in advance. Your child's library card will be kept at the front desk for the entirety of the program.
Occasionally, storyhour may be cancelled due to severe weather conditions. If the Medina schools are closed, Storyhour is cancelled. If schools are not closed, but Miss Mack feels it is necessary to cancel Storyhour, a call will be made at least one hour before storyhour is scheduled to begin.
Food is sometimes served during storyhour sessions. Please let Miss Mack know in advance if your child suffers from any food allergies. The different programs offered at Lee-Whedon are outlined below:
- Storyhour for three's and fours This storytime is an hour-long storyhour for 3 and 4-year olds.
This program runs from September through May. During the hour, children will read quality storybooks and then participate in activities, songs and fingerplays. A craft that relates to the theme of the day will also be created. A portion of each storyhour will be devoted to choosing books that can be taken home to enjoy with other family members. The Fall 2010 programming will begin in September. Registration is required for this free program. [Read general information regarding storyhours.]
- Lapsit Program This is a 4-week program that was started in the Fall of 2008. It is for children ages 9
